Who are these courses designed for?
These courses are designed primarily for general dentists expanding into surgical procedures, as well as specialists who want practical, case-based instruction. Each course lists an experience level — Foundational, Intermediate, or Advanced — so you can choose what fits where you are.
When is the next bone-grafting course?
Bone Grafting for the General Dentist is available now on-demand. New live session dates are announced first to members and the education email list.
Is CE credit available?
CE credit status is pending approval for individual courses. When a course carries approved CE credit, it will be clearly indicated on that course's page. Do not assume CE credit unless it is explicitly stated.
How should a general dentist begin learning surgical grafting?
Start with case selection and observation. Dr. Fien recommends beginning with the Foundational-level courses before advancing to hands-on techniques. The membership library includes short technique videos ideal for early learners.
How is this different from other dental education?
Every course is built from cases Dr. Fien has actually performed in his practice — not borrowed footage or theoretical scenarios. The teaching is conversational and practical, focused on decisions you can use Monday morning. There is no academic complexity for its own sake.
What cases should be referred?
This is covered in depth in 'Surgical Case Selection: When to Treat and When to Refer.' In general, cases involving significant medical complexity, severe anatomical limitations, or procedures outside your trained skill set should be referred.
Do I need surgical experience to start?
Some courses require basic surgical comfort (flap design, extractions). The Foundational-level courses are designed for dentists with minimal surgical experience. Each course page lists who it is and isn't for so you can decide before purchasing.
Is live surgical training available?
Yes. Dr. Fien offers limited-seat live surgical training programs, typically limited to three or four participants. Visit the Live Training page for upcoming opportunities and application details.
How does the membership work?
Membership is a monthly or annual subscription that gives you access to the member library — monthly case reviews, technique videos, surgical image commentary, and member pricing on individually-purchased masterclasses.
